Dr. Isabel García Santos

ISABEL GARCÍA SANTOS was born in Baio (A Coruña, Spain) in 1971 and graduated in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 1998, where in 2001 she received her PhD for work on the coordination and reactivity of thiosemicarbazones derived from 2-pyridineformamide with group 10 and 12 metals in redox state II carried out under the supervision of Profs. Alfonso Castiñeiras and Elena Bermejo. She spent the academic year 2002-2003 at the Freie Universität, Berlin, working under Prof. Ulrich Abram on the synthesis and characterization of complexes of thiosemicarbazones with gold, rhenium, thorium and uranium. She has now returned to the University of Santiago de Compostela, where she is investigating complexes of thiosemicarbazones with gold(III) with a view to their possible antitumoral activity
